Wikipedia:Anti-WMF sentiment

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Among Wikipedia editors, there are some who are opposed to the current stance of the Wikimedia Foundation.

Common reasons

[edit]
  • They say that WMF doesn't fully represent the editing community
  • The assets, including donated funds that were supposed to be used for maintenance, were siphoned into wrong hands
  • Forcing average readers to donate, despite having enough budget for maintenance
  • Utilization of WMF to influence politics
  • WMF was one-sided and politicized, indirectly sneaking past WP:NPOV
  • WMF was never neutral in the first place
  • Failure to provide sufficient technological support to volunteers
  • "Wherever there are people, there are stances. Instead of hiding them, it's better to state them."[1]

Which in de facto WMF may have failed the entire editing communities by ignoring most of the demands.

In conclusion

[edit]

No NGO is truly independent. NGOs can be politicized and pressured by governments of where they are based in. Regardless of whenever you contribute, you can still face consequences even if nothing was violated.

The sum of all human knowledge, must be maintained even in the event of rigorous pressure. Rules always change to adapt the current situation.
