Wikipedia:Be the Fun Police

Wikipedia is not a place for fun, jokes, silliness, horseplay, nonsense, guff, mischief, pranks, balderdash, horseplay, gobbledygook, or related hogwash. If you find users partaking in such things, especially if they're quietly enjoying themselves in the project or user namespaces and no one seems to be taking any offense, you must bring such awful tomfoolery to the notice of administrators at once. Or, even better, if you are an admin, simply block them indefinitely for such activities.
Every day, numerous acts of vandalism are attempted on Wikipedia, by so-called "good editors" making edits "in good faith". However, these editors are not truly good editors. While they may have thousands, tens of thousands, or more "good edits" on Wikipedia, these acts of vandalism negate all of that and then some. These editors may just be attempting to have fun in between their years of slaving away for the greater good, but none of that matters. Even a small joke, hidden within the deepest corner of the User or Project namespaces, which no reasonable non-editor would ever visit, is awful and compromising to what Wikipedia is. So, here's how you can help the community by being a member of the fun police.
Types of offenses

[edit]You will find numerous humor-oriented user pages throughout the wiki. Brainwashed users will tell you that the user pages are generally to be used as you want, within reason. These users are completely wrong. Humor is 100%, totally banned on user pages, as is all sorts of even remotely unrelated content. User pages are not for expression and most definitely not for humor.
For an example of what not to do, this user and this user have pretty much every single infraction you could possibly have.
By someone else
[edit]If someone does a prank on another user that they are annoyed by, revert it instantly. But, if the other user finds it funny, they are now complicit in a horrible act of vandalism and should also be blocked. Better yet, even if it seems like they're possibly secretly orchestrating the joke even though they say otherwise, assume they must also be blocked. Best of all, just request that everyone even remotely related to the problem be blocked.
Userbox
[edit]User boxes are even worse. If you see an even remotely silly userbox, or you think you may have seen a remotely silly userbox, or you perhaps believe that it might possibly be that one person might find that userbox ever so slightly funny due to an inside joke involving crustaceans, add it to the list of banned userboxes, request a block on it's creator, the person who you saw using it, and better yet, ban all the userboxes on their page, because why not?
April Fools' Day
[edit]On April Fools Day 2025 alone, 228 different articles were vandalized with a "humorous" request for deletion. Well, the truth is that every single one of the participants in such discussions should be blocked. These people are basically just common vandals. Better yet, we need an incredibly helpful admin to go through every single prank from every year and block all of the participants.
These people are wasting server resources for silliness and stupidity.
In order to prevent future abuses, it is recommended that a group of fun police is assembled to helpfully revert all these acts of vandalism as fast as possible on this awful day.

[edit]All references to humor should be removed. Comedians, jokes, and the like, all gone. WikiProject Comedy is a cabal and its goal is to promote vandalism. All members are vandals and must be blocked. Who cares if entire swaths of history are gone? It's all garbage anyway.
Actual vandalism
[edit]Never mind, don't worry much about this category. Vandalism isn't real anyway, it's humor that is the real evil.
Department of Fun
[edit]The Wikipedia Department of Fun is the worst cabal in all of Wikipedia. Their evils can be felt throughout the site, throughout multiple namespaces. They should all be blocked indefinitely! How dare they imply it should be fun to edit Wikipedia! How dare they create reason for editors to stay on Wikipedia! They're not here to build an encyclopedia! They're in violation of WP:IRL! They ought to read up on WP:RESPONSIBLE! WP:SFoD! WP:WTF! WP:ARGH!
